Scientific name; Adelonema crinipes (Engl.)S.Y.Wong & Croat. Also known under the scientific name of Urophyllum crinipes by Engler. More commonly known as the Hairy Adelonema. Native to the tropical rainforests of Central and South America, specifically found in regions of Panama and Colombia.
The Adelonema crinipes is a rare tropical aroid with narrow elongated leaves which are rich green in colour with a yellow midrib and glossy texture. The petioles are slender and red and feature small, thorn-like structures. Hence the common name, Hairy Adelonema.
The Adelonema crinipes prefers bright, indirect light. These aroids are terrestrial understory rainforest plants and will therefore tolerate partial shade. Direct sun will most certainly scorch the leaves. Keep the soil consistently moist but never soggy. Ideal humidity levels are between 60% and 80% and preferred temperatures are between 68° and 86°.
