Aroids and broadleaved plants

So, what is an aroid?  An aroid is a plant belonging to the Araceae family.  They are characterized by their unusual flower style which is called a spadix.  Although their popularity, particularly in the UK is for their foliage rather than the flower. 
Broad leaf plants, well that is self-explanatory really.  As plant lovers we seem to be favouring the more unusual and quirky leaf and of course, the mighty giants that eventually block the TV and turn a living room into a jungle.  Perfect!
