Alocasia 'Regal Shields' in 12 cm pot

Scientifically known as Alocasia odora x Alocasia reginula.  Commonly referred to Elephant Ear. Native to the tropical rainforests of Asia and Eastern Australia.

A hybrid between Alocasia odora and Alocasia reginula, Alocasia 'Regal Shield' has deep purple foliage with dark veining. Similar in colour and form to Alocasia wentii, these striking leaves are held upright by slender green stems which shoot out from a fleshy base.

Provide bright, indirect light for your Alocasia Regal Shield and avoid direct sunlight as this will scorch the leaves. Keep the soil consistently moist but never waterlogged. The Alocasia tends to prefer warm temperatures between 15° and 27° and high humidity!
