. Commonly known as the Zebra Plant, Elephant Ear, or Zebrina Alocasia.  Originating from the tropical and subtropical forests of Southeast Asia, particularly the Philippines.

The Alocasia zebrina has arrow-head shaped leaves which when fully mature will reach up to 35 cm in length. As beautiful and lush as the Zebrina leaves are, the real reason for its beauty lies in those striking striped petioles (stems)!
I know some struggle to keep Alocasia’s, but their care is quite straight forward.  They require watering only when their soil feels dry to the touch and even then, they don't need to be soaked. They hold water in their thick, juicy stems and they will droop if in need of a drink.  Although you ideally do not want to let their watering needs get to that point, probably better that than the roots sit in excess water as this will cause the roots to rot. If you really want to spoil your Alocasia then water with rainwater!  The Zebrina will require a bright, indirect, warm spot, ideally a room with high humidity.  See, simple!
