Commonly referred to as the Red Butterfly Begonia or the Bamboo Leaf Begonia or simply the Spotted Begonia. Native to the rainforests of Southeast Asia.
The Begonia amphioxus is a relatively rare, small, tropical, flowering plant. With tiny pink or red, yellow centred flowers, blooming in clusters of 3 or 5. Leaves are narrow and elongated, pointed at the tips with red spots and a red border. A beautiful and unusual member of the Begonia family, a popular choice for plant collectors and enthusiasts and is particularly suited for terrariums for its love of humidity and ease of care.
Preferring a brightly lit spot with partial sun. Avoid prolonged periods of direct sun as this will scorch the leaves. Water when you feel the soil begin to dry. Avoid over watering. The Begonia amphioxus will thrive in a humid environment so will be happy in a bathroom or kitchen or create the same effect by placing on a pebble tray.
