Commonly named the Rose Painted Calathea. Native to the South American jungles.
A darker leafed variety of the Calathea family. A striking tropical houseplant with large, round leaves featuring a deep green upper surface and a striking crimson underside. New leaves emerge with a light pink color and deepen as they mature. The leaves also have a dark green-black border, adding to the plant's dramatic appearance. The plant is primarily grown for its foliage and is often called a "prayer plant" due to its habit of folding its leaves upward at night.
Calathea 'Roseopicta Crimson' thrives in bright, indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves. They do well near a window with sheer curtains or in a room that receives plenty of natural light without direct exposure. Avoid allowing the soil to completely dry out but equally avoid their roots sitting in water. Calatheas enjoy high humidity, typically 60% or higher. You can increase humidity by using a humidifier, pebble tray, or misting the plant regularly. Brown leaf tips can indicate low humidity.
