Commonly referred to as the African milk tree. Although the Euphorbia trigona has thick stems lined with small spikes it is commonly and incorrectly classified as a cactus. It is in fact, a succulent native to Central and Southern Africa. However, that said, it would not be a mistake to care for the Euphorbia trigona in much of the same way. Plenty of sun and minimal watering. This beautiful specimen can grow as tall as 4 metres over a 10-year period. Plant currently stands at 12 cm in height.
Please note, the sap (which rather resembles milk, hence the common name) is an irritant to the skin and eyes so always wear gloves when handling. This cactus looking non-cacti is a real showstopper, particularly when placed alone to stand out from the crowd.
