Guzmania 'Ostara' in 9 cm pot

Common names include the scarlet Star, Droophead Tufted Airplant, Orange Star and Vase Plant.  Belonging to the Bromeliaceae family, subfamily Tillandsioideae.  The Guzmania ostara grows as an epiphyte in the rainforests of Central America, Northern and Central South America and Southern Mexico.
Fancy adding a touch of the exotic to your home?  These beautiful flowers will last up to 6 months.  Once the flower begins to die, then remove it completely allowing the plants energy to go into the new growth (pups).  They will happily grow in part to full shade.  Water sparingly. but remember, they are native to the rainforest and therefore love humidity! So regular misting or sitting in a tray of pebbles with a drop of water will be ideal.
