Commonly referred to as the Silver Leaf Monstera. Native to the rainforest of Southern Mexico and Central America.
The Monstera siltepecana is a tropical houseplant with distinct, heart-shaped leaves. Beautiful emerald green in colour with an interesting silvery contrasting centre. As the juvenile leaves mature, rather like the Deliciosa, they will form fenestrations (windows in the leaves). This very easy to care for tropical houseplant looks at home whether planted in a hanger, allowing the foliage to elegantly cascade, or supported with a moss pole, enabling the vines to creep and climb.
Place your Monstera siltepecana in bright, indirect light. Avoid prolonged periods of direct sunlight as this will scorch the leaves. Water when the top of the soil begins to dry and allow all excess water to drain away as the roots are likely to rot if left sitting in water. Due to its love of warmth and humidity (ideally temperatures no lower than 15°) the Monstera siltepecana is perfect in a bathroom or kitchen but is not particularly fussy so will show no signs of stress if not placed in these environments. Low light conditions will simply result in slightly smaller leaves and slower growth.
