Opuntia monacantha in 6 cm pot

Common names include the Drooping Prickly Pear, Cochineal Prickly Pear and the  Barbary Fig.  Native to South America.

Succulent shrub or small tree with flat, pad like stems bearing spines and barbed bristles.  Featuring yellow flowers with red markings that bloom late spring to early autumn and can reach up to 9 cm in diameter.

Preferring bright, indirect light and minimal watering.  Allow the soil to completely dry out between watering.
