Phlebodium aureum 'Blue Star' in 12 cm pot

Commonly known as the Blue Star Fern.  Native to the tropcial regions of South America, North America and the Caribbean where it grows as an epiphyte.

This is a delightful, funky fern with elongated blue-green leaves which arch lightly over the side of a pot or hanging planter.  The leaves emerge from creeping rhizomes, which are hairy in appearance.  When fully mature this stunning plant will reach a  height of around 1 metre. 

The Phlebodium is a relatively easy plant to care.  They are thirsty ferns and would rather you didn't allow them to completely dry out between watering.  Thriving on humidity, these ferns are the perfect addition to a bathroom or kitchen! They will be happy in a bright spot, avoid direct sunlight as this will scorch the leaves.
