Common name Zulu plant, Zulu giant or Toad plant.  Native to the desert regions of South Africa and Tanzania.  The plant is made up of multiple upright, ribbed columns and is very soft to touch, no spines, despite it's appearance.  In fact,  it's form, dare I say, is typically cactus and therefore looks so good placed with other cacti and succulents but equally is a stunning, stand alone specimen. Stapelia leendertziae is probably the most striking species of the genus Stapelia, especially when in flower, due to the unique, large, bell-shaped, deep reddish to dark purple flowers. This unusual plant is so easy to keep.  Thriving on neglect, just place it in a relatively warm, bright spot and keep watering to a minimum.
