‘What unprecedented radiance a single flower can possess. What enchanting beauty can be contained in that single branch’. It is typical of the Vanda, the world's most exclusive orchid species.
Vanda orchids are vibrant, tropical epiphytes known for their large, showy, and often brightly coloured flowers. They are monopodial, meaning they grow upwards from a single stem, and feature long, strap-shaped leaves and a prominent root system. Vanda orchids are a favourite among orchid enthusiasts due to their striking appearance and long-lasting blooms.
Vanda flowers and plants are tropical! Therefore, it's important to keep them in a warm environment, water them sufficiently, and expose them to plenty of natural light.
Place your ANSU Vanda in a location with plenty of natural light to ensure all flowers bloom longer and develop their best color. The ANSU Vanda thrives in normal room temperatures, between 18 and 27 degrees Celsius (64- and 81-degrees Fahrenheit). At the right room temperature and plenty of light, the plant will grow actively. Avoid direct sunlight in summer, as it can burn or damage the leaves. Once the flowers have fallen off, you can cut back the flower spike.
Water twice a week during sunny, dry spells. The water should be at room temperature, approximately 20-24 degrees Celsius, or 68-75 degrees Fahrenheit. Fill the vase with water until the roots are completely submerged. During cloudy and cool spells, this only needs to be done once a week. After filling the vase with water, the roots will absorb the water like a sponge. After about 30 minutes, remove the water from the vase. The plant has now stored enough water in its roots for the next few days.
Use a standard, balanced fertilizer for the Vanda. This can be purchased at flower shops or garden centres. Add a special liquid orchid fertilizer to the water once a month.
The ANSU Vanda needs plenty of light to bloom. After a few months, the plant may rebloom, depending on the amount of daylight. To encourage flowering, place the plant in a cool place for a few weeks. The temperature in this place should never be below 15 degrees Celsius (59 degrees Fahrenheit). Continue watering and feeding the plant as usual during this period, and ensure it receives the same amount of light as usual.
A note from the supplier; Ranking the Vanda
ANSU Vanda was the first grower to take the initiative to establish a ranking by variety. This makes it clear how long a particular variety lasts, its availability, and how the flower reacts to cold and transport. This allows exporters and florists to select exactly those varieties that their customers value.
